Eastern Bridge Theatre Troupe is happy to announce that preparations for our second installment, entitled “Unheard Female Voices - Poetry Event,” are underway.

They aim to give a platform to up-and-coming poets and storytellers to share their poetry and art with a New York audience.

They are accepting submissions for fearless individuals, especially foreign and female-identifying poets, who would like to present their work.

The reading will be directed by Anna Rak and is produced by Cristina Sebastian and Yuching Tsai.

“Foreign Voices are Us” is a series of events produced by Eastern Bridge Theatre Troupe, an artist collective that’s mostly made up of foreign-born, female identifying artists.

Their first installment, “Let’s Build a Bridge - Not a Wall: an adaptation of Charles Mee’s works” was directed by Anna Rak and was “Set around a bench in Brooklyn Bridge Park, “Lets Build a Bridge, Not a Wall” was an improvised, intimate look into authentic conversations and relationships of different New Yorkers.

Inspired by the work of playwright Charles Mee and new beginnings, “Lets Build a Bridge...” navigates triumphs and failures, profound connections and misunderstandings, and how everything is not as it seems once you take a closer look.

The show successfully premiered to a full house on April 29, 2018 at PUNTO space in Manhattan, NYC.

Charles Mee surprised everyone with his presence and loved the adaptation of his work.

Cristina Sebastian is an actor, comedian and producer.

She was born and raised Manila but lived in Hong Kong until the age of 6.

She loved mimicking the different voices and characters that she heard on movies and TV.

She first stepped on the stage at 13 years old, and has been doing it ever since.

She was encouraged to pursue her dreams, and after she appeared in multiple theatre productions and student films in Manila when she was accepted into Circle in the Square’s prestigious Acting Conservatory.

Some credits since graduating Julius Caesar, A Sketch of New York, Urinetown, Joan, and Pater Familias.

She is a proud Company Member of Eastern Bridge Theatre Troupe, having worked on their successful run of Strings - an Original Play.

Cristina is a recent graduate of the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, and you can catch her in a monthly comedy show Improvised Buffy (based off the hit TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer) at the famous PIT Loft Theater.

She is also an advocate for theatre and arts in education, having worked extensively with the Tuloy Foundation in Manila before coming to New York.

She recently completed a playmaking residency at P.S. 11 in Chelsea, and she performed and directed her students plays at the famous Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway.
