The late Grace Javier Abad.


Grace Javier Abad, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, at Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains, N.J.

She was 93.

Born and raised in Manila on Dec. 18, 1917, Abad was the eldest of eight children of Alejandro Javier and Agatona De Dios.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Artemio L. Abad, Sr. and children Arthur J. Abad and Alice Abad-Cura.

Surviving Abad are her siblings Norma, Sonja and Rudy; and her devoted children Artemio J. Abad, Jr. and wife Diane, Aurora J. Abad and Jimmy Armisto, Antonio J. Abad and wife Cecilia, Anne Marie Abad and Rene Martinez, Albert J. Abad and wife Amie, former Miss Philippines-USA Annabelle Abad-Nakpil and husband Henry Nakpil, and grandchildren: Christopher Abad-Cura, Ann Joy Abad, Aren Francis Nakpil, Amber Kristen Nakpil, Alanna Grace Autler, Junjit Abad, Leengin Abad, Abigail Amoncio, Anthony Abad, Antoinette Abad and countless friends and relatives.

“Our mother blessed everyone she knew with her strength, kindness and everlasting beauty,” says Annabelle.

Viewing will be at the Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, N.J. on Saturday (July 23) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A memorial service will be held on Monday (July 25) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Lincoln Park, N.J.
