The 2011 ANCOP Global Walk will be held simultaneously on Aug. 20 (Aug. 21 in the Philippines), in North America, Europe, Africa, Australia and throughout the Philippines.

The three-mile walk is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of participants.

The Iloilo ANCOP team alone in southern Philippines reported it was expecting some 50,000 walkers.

In Manila, Filipina-Canadian singer Maria Aragon will join its big group of ANCOP walkers, which will start from the Mall of Asia.

In the United States, ANCOP Walk will be held in 19 key cities in 12 states.

In the New Jersey-New York area, the event will be held in Liberty State Park (near the old train station) in Jersey City, N.J. starting at 6:30 a.m.

ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor) Walk is held annually to raise funds for the organization’s major projects, namely, Child Sponsorship Program (CSP), which sends poor Filipino children to elementary, high school or college for free; and Community Development Program (CDP), which provides free housing to poor Filipino families.
