BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Members of the Pakil East Association (PEA) braved the inclement weather to raise funds for the indigent families of their beloved town Pakil, Laguna at the Saddle River County Club on April 16.

It was from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Threat of tornadoes and high winds did not stop them from walking three miles around the river loop to raise over $2,000.

Monetary donations are still continuously being collected.

“We had fun,” said PEA president Ador Dalena.

“There was a lot of food like arroz caldo and lumpia to keep our spirits up after every lap around the loop.”

Every member brought food and beverages to the pot luck event.

Funds raised will go toward the annual Christmas Cheer Program wherein PEA provides cash and gift cards for groceries to over 300 indigent families in the barrios and town proper of Pakil, Laguna, which is located about 35 miles south of Metro Manila.
