MARIA ARAGON

Eleven-year-old Filipina-Canadian singer Maria Aragon, whose version of the popular song “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga on YouTube has received more than 38 million visitors, revealed during a television interview in Manila that she was supporting CFC/ANCOP Global Walk because “she wanted to help poor Filipino children go to school.”

CFC/ANCOP Global Walk is scheduled on Aug. 20 around the Philippines and in key cities of various countries, including the United States and Canada.

Funds that will be raised will  be used for two major projects of ANCOP, namely, Child Sponsorship Program (CSP), which sponsors poor Filipino children in elementary, high school or college level, and Community Development Program (CDP), which provides housing communities to poor Filipino families.

Maria appeared in Manila’s popular TV program “The Buzz” on July 24, which was shown to TFC viewers around the world.

In that show, she was interviewed by actress KC Concepcion.

Maria told her interviewer how she felt for poor people she saw in the streets of Manila.

It was during that conversation when she revealed she was supporting CFC/ANCOP scholarship program in her hometown in Canada.

Aragon is currently in Manila to produce a music album with ABS-CBN.

A couple of months ago, the young singer was invited to sing a duet with Lady Gaga during a concert in Toronto.

She has also appeared in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

On July 1, young Maria was invited by the Canadian Government to sing Canada’s national anthem in front of Prince William and his wife Catherine during the royal couple’s Canadian visit.

The three-mile ANCOP Walk in the New York-New Jersey area will be held on Aug. 20, by the old train station at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J. at 8 a.m.
