David Letterman introduces the cast of “Godspell,” including Filipino-American Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.

“Godspell,” the Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz’s landmark rock musical that stars a diverse company of 10 rising actors, including Fil-Am Disney star Anna Maria Perez de Tagle (“Hannah Montana,” “Camp Rock”), Hunter Parrish (“Weeds,” “It’s Complicated”) and Telly Leung (“Glee,” “Rent”), is set to officially open on Nov. 7 at Circle in the Square Theatre in Times Square in Manhattan.

Directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli (“South Pacific”), the “Godspell” cast has gone full blast promoting the musical, including a guesting on Nov. 1 on the top rated talk show “Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS.

The cast gave Letterman and his audience a peek at the popular musical, with Anna Maria leading the performance of “Godspell’s” most recognized song “Day By Day.”

“It’s a thrill to meet Mr. David Letterman and perform in his show,” Anna Maria tells the Filipino Reporter.

“He’s very supportive...it’s great of him to invite us and feature ‘Godspell’ in his show. The entire cast just loves him.”

“Godspell,” based upon the Gospel According to St. Matthew, is Anna Maria’s Broadway debut after years of being a Disney TV star.

“I’m really excited to do this every night for people from all walks of life,” she says of the show that’s currently on preview performances since Oct. 12.

Anna Maria, who has starred in the 2009 remake of the movie “Fame,” is the granddaughter of the legendary Sylvia la Torre and daughter of former TV personality Artie Perez de Tagle.

“Godspell’s” score features other instantly recognizable hits, including “Turn Back, O Man,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “Prepare Ye,” “Light of the World” and many more.

The musical — in a modern-day song and dance — originally ran for more than 2,600 performances in New York and spawned successful touring productions in major U.S. cities, a 1973 motion picture adaptation, and countless international engagements for the past 40 years.
