After a year-break, Filipino Idol Singing Competition is back.

Sponsored by Philippine-American Friendship Committee (PAFCOM), and headed by 2013 Overall Chairperson Edwin Solano, this popular, and a crowd-drawer cultural show is the brainchild of Hector Magno, of Magno PI Production.

This year, a new Filipino Idol will be crowned during the Philippine-American Friendship Day on Sunday, June 23 at Lincoln Park in Jersey City following the Parade and Cultural program.

The rules of the contest are as follows: 

No audition.

Contestants of Filipino descent must be between 15 to 35 years old and must have, but not strictly enforced, singing experience on performing stage.

It must be a solo performance accompanied either by a CD track, or any basic musical instrument.

Your CD must be pre-set and ready to go with your name on it.

It must be received by the committee hours before competition begins for a dry-run by the Sound Engineer.

Previous winners of other singing contests are encouraged to join.

However, contestants cannot perform at the cultural portion of the Festival happening on the same day.

Suggested attire is “dress to impress”.

Application deadline is June 1st.

No duplication of songs.

Your song choice is on first-come-first-serve basis and could be in any dialect or language.

Hence, early application is suggested.

You will be notified of your acceptance days before June 23rd.

A panel of judges will select the winners.

Judges’ decision is final.

Contestants are judged based on:

 

Musicality (Artistic Interpretation):40%

Diction:30%

Stage Presence:30%

 

Prizes at stake: 

 

1st Place:$500 (2013 Filipino Idol) + trophy

2nd Place:$300 + trophy

3rd Place:$200 + trophy
