Grammy Award-winning Fil-Am music superstar Bruno Mars pays tribute to his late mother, Bernadette San Pedro Bayot, during his rousing Super Bowl halftime performance on Feb. 2 by putting her name across a heart on his drum kit.

His Philippine-born mother was only 55 when she died of brain aneurysm in June 2013 in Hawaii.

Bruno, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, had his mother’s name tattooed on his shoulder.

Following the Super Bowl, sales of Bruno’s latest album “Unorthodox Jukebox” rose by 164% and climbed from No. 18 to No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart.  (Getty Images)
