An “Evening of Philippine Music” on April 27, 2014 sent the audience dancing in the aisles and singing along with noted music legend Cecile Azarcon and the Sounds of Music whose members are Suzanne Lansangan-Sabangan (vocalist), Ronnie Sabangan (bassist), Hermie Angeles (vocalist), JR Gendrano (drummer), Aaron Garcia (guitarist) and Bobby de Leon (musical director/keyboard player).

Jojo Gendrano (guitarist) was the group’s former guitarist, now living in the Philippines.

The Sabangan couple formed the Sounds of Music honorably tagged as “Ambassadors of Philippine Music.”

SOM has been a recipient of several awards in the arts and culture for helping preserve and promote Original Philippine Music (OPM).

The concert is a musical tribute to Cecile’s 35 years in the Philippine music industry.

She is a songwriter, singer and pianist accompanying herself.

She’s amazing!

Lorrie Ilustre, top musical director/composer/arranger, was on keyboard during the show.

Bobby de Leon was on hiatus.

Lorrie has worked with many known Philippine artists and is a sought-after musical talent.

He’s terrific!

The group SOM blend beautifully with each other.

We first heard Suzanne and her hubby Ronnie during a private dinner at Marya Coburn’s manse sometime ago.

They’re sensational!

Other talented singers who performed were Jared Martin (reminds us of Martin Nievera), Tiffany Ashley de Guzman Viray, Arnel Arcedo and Tony Gado.

The show at Symphony Space in Manhattan was sponsored by GMA Life TV, GMA Pinoy TV and Synergy Production & Marketing Inc. with Ronald Allan Labaguis, producer and his wife Grace Labaguis, marketing director.

Kudos to all the artists and to the Labaguis couple for a beautiful concert.
