Showbiz enthusiasts in the New York-New Jersey area and beyond recently had a field day with the presence of some of the most famous stars of rival networks ABS-CBN and GMA.

Kapamilya superstars Sam Milby and KC Concepcion thrilled their supporters for two days, June 24 and 25, to promote the New York international premiere of their Star Cinema romance-drama flick “Forever And A Day,” presented by Ritzberries Productions, at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in lower Manhattan.

The two spent the whole day on June 25 at Tribeca PAC signing autographs and posing for posterity with fans, who spent hours on line to meet their idols up close.

A day earlier, they were at Payag Restaurant in Queens for a meet-and-greet event.

“She’s (KC) so slim and gorgeous...I didn’t know she’s that beautiful in person,” gushed Maria NovaBengGregorio, a U.S. Navy’s wife, who drove to the Big Apple from Frederick, Maryland, with her best friend Catherine Jabinis-Griffin, just to get a glimpse of her most fave TFC stars.

Jabinis-Griffin said Sam looks exactly the same in person as he does on big screen and boob tube: “tall, dark and handsome.”

‘Worth the long trip’

“And they’re both warm and very nice to their fans,” said Jabinis-Griffin of the reel lovers.

“They’re really worth our four-hour trip to New York.”

KC and Sam appeared together on stage at the two screenings to formally introduce the movie and thank their supporters.

“This is the first time that a movie I’m with is having an international premiere,” KC told cheering fans.

“It’s so exciting and it feels good...thank you very much for coming. We’re really overwhelmed by your presence.”

“Forever And A Day,” megged by award-winning director Cathy Garcia-Molina, is a compelling, old-fashioned drama that delivers an emotional wallop and elicited tears from everyone.

The film is beautifully-crafted with fine performances from a high-powered cast that includes Dante Rivero, Bembol Roco, Vivian Velez and Matet de Leon, with the spectacular views of Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro as backdrop.

The main stars — KC and Sam — not only spark great chemistry on screen but also gave topnotch acting that deserves award nominations for both.

On June 26, it was the turn of the Kapuso superstars to excite the Pinoys in the tri-state area at the annual Philippine-American Friendship Day celebration in Jersey City, N.J.

Iza Calzado, Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Bautista and the hunk of the moment Aljur Abrenica lent their star power to the big event and delighted fans of GMA Pinoy TV aboard the Kapuso float.

Aljur received the loudest screams among the four.

Even Iza can attest to that as she laughed at the sight of fanatic fans glued to their float as its traversed West Side Avenue heading to Lincoln Park.

Nabighani sila talaga kay Aljur,” Iza laughed.

“I guess that’s the power of GMA Pinoy TV,” said the handsome leading man of “Temptation Island,” who admitted he, too, was overwhelmed by the warm response he received from the tri-state fans.

After the parade, the four serenaded the large crowd gathered at Lincoln Park for the cultural festival, where adoring fans can’t get enough of the stars.

On June 27, Iza and Aljur toured the Big Apple with their handlers and assistants.

Among their stops was the Filipino Reporter office at the Empire State Building, where they were accompanied by PAFCOM grand marshal Nena Kaufman, PAFCOM overall chair Gani Puertollano, civic leader Lito Pernia, and GMA marketing consultant Grace Labaguis.

The two stars exchanged pleasantries with the Reporter staff, with Aljur inviting FR associate publisher Linda Pelayo to his family’s Batangas resort.

They later posed for Kodak moments with the staff.

“New York is such an exciting and vibrant city,” said Iza.

Hindi nakakasawang balik-balikan. You’re all so lucky you’re in New York.”

Aljur, meanwhile, talked about his rumored girlfriend, Ky lie Padilla, but won’t admit they are in a relationship.

Talagang she’s nice and pretty,” he confided to FR’s Albert Ignacio. “But friends lang po kami.”

When asked about the reported rift between co-stars Marian Rivera and Heart Evangelista at the location shoot of Regal Films’ “Temptation Island” in Ilocos, Aljur could only reply, “Hindi ko nga po talaga alam kung ano ang nangyari o kung may nangyari nga...wala po akong alam doon eh.”
