                           RICHARD GUTIERREZ

Richard Gutierrez will have no less than three leading ladies in his next movie intended for Valentine’s Day. He’s not yet at liberty to reveal their identities and he also won’t answer if he’d have a trilogy of three different love stories as earlier planned.

“It’ll all be announced in due time,” he says. “I’m also busy with the pre-production of the Book 2 of ‘Captain Barbell’ and I’m told I’ll have four leading ladies naman. But right now, our focus is the coming finale night of ‘Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown’ on Dec. 3. As of now, there are only six remaining castaways: Aubrey Miles, Akihiro Sato, Solenn Heussaff, Yaya Moi, Elma Muros and Ervic Vijandre. The question is: Who’ll be the ultimate survivor? We’ve planned a really exciting finale with many twists and turns to surprise not just the viewers but even the castaways themselves, so don’t miss it. On Sunday, I also have my newest docu on ‘Anatomy of a Disaster’ that will feature destructive fires and how to prevent them.”

Richard looked so dapper and debonair at the launch of Bench’s new Red Gutz Eau de Toilette and Gutz Watch at Establishment in The Fort while surrounded by scantily clad models who sprayed the air with the eau de toilette that comes in lavender, bergamot, citrus, jasmine, rosewood, musk, amber and cedar wood.

“Richard definitely embodies the cool and dynamic image of Bench and our newest products,” says Bench mogul Ben Chan. “He’s also the perfect endorser for the Gutz Watch that’s inspired by racing and diving watches combined with its chunky sporty design and stainless steel fittings. He himself collaborated on the features of the Gutz Watch now available at all Bench stores nationwide.”

Marian Rivera was supposed to do a full-length film on “Nieves, Encanto Slayer,” an episode in “Shake, Rattle & Roll,” in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival but it was shelved after she had an accident while taping “Darna.”

For this year, instead of “Nieves,” Mother Lily Monteverde opted to do a remake of “Super Inday and the Golden Bibe.” How does she feel about it?

“Iba ang ‘Nieves’ at iba rin itong ‘Super Inday,’” says Marian. “But I’m happy with Super Inday as I’m a fan of Maricel Soriano and this is one of her biggest hits. I feel honored to be chosen to do it for today’s generation. The Super Inday here is a combination of her other Inday movies, like Inday Bote and Inday sa Balitaw, kaya riot na riot talaga ito sa katatawanan. Director Mike Tuviera has changed the story kasi may iba pang superheroes na kasama ako like Jake Cuenca as Amazing J, Pokwang as Kukay, and John Lapus as the Golden Bibe. Lahat kami, may superpowers at ang main enemy namin is Mylene Dizon.”

The coming filmfest will be a tough fight as they’ll be up against the entries of other big stars like Sen. Bong Revilla, Vic Sotto, Dolphy, Ai-Ai de las Alas, Kris Aquino. What does she think of the chances of “Super Inday” against them?

“Hindi naman sa pagyayabang but I’m confident that malaki ang laban namin. Unang-una, action-comedy-fantasy kami na tiyak na magugustuhan ng mga bata. Entire families can watch us on Christmas Day. Regal spent so much for the special effects kaya fantastic talaga ang dating on screen ng CGI scenes. Then, mga Kapuso at Kapamilya, pinagsama rito. John Lapus and I are from GMA while Jake and Pokwang are from ABS-CBN. And the wonder of it is nagkasundo kami lahat agad sa set. Masaya kami, chikahan, maganda ang naging bonding naming lahat. Puro good, positive vibes so we know magiging good and positive din ang resulta nito sa box office.”

On TV, she says GMA has scheduled the start of the taping of her new show, the period “epicserye” tentatively titled “Amaya” that’s similar to “Jewel in the Palace” in scope, by the last week of November.

“Sana nga, matuloy. The problem is they still can’t find a new leading man for me. Kung ako papipiliin, siempre, gusto ko, si Dingdong pa rin. Kaya lang, kapareha na siya ni Ate Regine Velasquez in ‘I Heart You Pare.’ So baka naman si Kuya Ogie Alcasid ang ibigay nila sa’kin para exchange partners kami.”

Marvin Agustin is back from his 10-day stay in Belgium where he was one of the jurors at the Brussels Filmfest. He hosted a late lunch for the press at Johnny Chow, his new restaurant in Resorts World. “I wasn’t able to go to other parts of Europe kasi we’re watching two to four films a day,” he says. “There was a time we watched 12 short films in succession, but it’s a very enriching experience for me as I made a lot of new friends and a lot of contacts from producers and directors who want to try doing movies here in our country. They’re asking materials from me that they can produce and shoot here.”

Upon his return home, Marvin immediately started taping for “Beauty Queen” where he plays a wealthy magnate named Donald Cervantes since his character is patterned after Donald Trump.

“It’s something new to me kasi dapat, super yaman at dignified lagi ang projection ko. In the story, Iza Calzado as Maita will get into big trouble because of her love affair with Marc, si TJ Trinidad, and Marc’s mom, Madame Yuri, si Gloria Diaz, is against her kasi mas gusto nito si Maggie Wilson for her son. TJ assures her he’ll fight for her pero maaapi si Iza nang husto especially when Maggie say she’s pregnant with TJ’s child. Dun ako makikilala ni Iza in a beauty pageant where I’m a judge and I’ll fall in love with her.”

Aside from “Beauty Queen,” Marvin is busy with two movies, Marilou Abaya’s “Ikaw ang Pag-ibig” where he plays a priest afflicted with a terminal illness, and the Star Cinema filmfest entry, “Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To,” where he reprises his role as Ai-Ai de las Alas’ eldest son married to Kaye Abad. In February, he goes back to Europe where his indie film, “Red Shoes,” will compete in the Mons Filmfest du Amour in Mons, Belgium.

John Lloyd Cruz’s films with Sarah Geronimo and Bea Alonzo are big hits; so is his “Imortal” with Angel Locsin on prime time TV. It’s his first time to be paired with Toni Gonzaga in “My Amnesia Girl” so this will be a test for him. If it’d be a hit, then it’ll prove that he’s really the top Kapamilya leading man now who can be paired with anyone and still enjoy public support.

“I’m confident viewers will love it as they will laugh from start to end,” he says. “My role is also different from those I’ve done before. Ako mismo, natatawa when I saw myself sa dubbing. First time din ni Toni to agree to do a kissing scene and I’m honored ako’ng nagbinyag sa kanya. It’s so nice to work with her kasi making people laugh comes naturally to her. Kalog talaga siya. When we shot the movie, there was never a dull moment on the set.”

What can he say about ex-girlfriend Liz Uy’s being rumored to wed President Noynoy next year?

“We don’t have any communication anymore, so I’ll only believe it when I get an invitation.”

But we don’t think he’d get invited, if ever.

“Well, if it’s true sila na, I’m happy for them. Tinanong din ako ng ganyan when Ciara Sotto got married and I also said I’m happy for them, I wish them all the best.”

How true is the rumor that his romance with Shaina Magdayao is on the rocks?

“Sorry to disappoint ‘yung nagkakalat niyan but it’s not true. I wasn’t here when she celebrated her birthday on Nov. 6 as I was doing shows in Europe, but I called her up and greeted her. When I got home, I gave her all the presents I shopped for her in Europe. We’ve never been happier kahit parehong loaded ang skeds namin. Whenever we’re together, we spend quality time so we’re really okay.”
