“Teleserye Prince” Paulo Avelino and “Royal Princess of Drama” Julia Montes will lead a multicultural cast of performers at Fiesta In America 2016, according to the expo’s cultural show Producer-Director, Ogie Afable.

The two-day indoor consumer expo will mark its 18th anniversary on Aug. 13 and 14 at New Jersey’s Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, N.J.

“Paulo Avelino and Julia Montes are two of the most gifted performing artists in the Philippines today,” said Afable.

“These ABS-CBN superstars will delight our audience with spectacular singing skills that are often overshadowed by their award-winning acting performances in film and on TV. Thanks to The Filipino Channel, Paulo and Julia have become household names among Filipino homes from California to the New York-New Jersey area.”

From his star-making role as Nathan Montenegro in the 2012 ABS-CBN hit series Walang Hanggan to last year’s On the Wings of Love, Paulo Avelino has proven his mettle as a multi-talented performer who can fill both big and small screens.

He won the Gawad Urian Award as Best Actor for the film Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa, and has even gained a wide following in Peru and the rest of Latin America for his portrayal of JR Nakpil in Bridges of Love, the first Philippine telenovela broadcast on the continent.

The “Teleserye Prince” has shined as a solo recording artist with the 2012 release of his self-titled album, Paulo Avelino, under Universal Records.

The album’s six tracks consisted of covers of OPM classic hits.

Filipino-German actress and model Julia Montes broke through the crowded entertainment field as Clara del Valle in the 2010 remake of Mara Clara.

Two years later, Julia showed that her star-turn was not a fluke by winning the Princess of Philippine Television Award for her critically acclaimed portrayal of Katerina Alcantara in the drama series Walang Hanggan.

She is better known as Philippine Television’s Teleserye Sweetheart for her role as Sarah Beltran in 2013’s Muling Buksan Ang Puso.

Like Paulo Avelino, Julia is a multi-talented performing artist who can wow concert audiences as much as her legions of teleserye followers.

A bevy of New York-New Jersey Filipino performers, professional Asian dance troupes and exciting Latino performers will round up the expo’s cultural show and concert, the high point of Fiesta In America.

But according to Nanding Mendez, the expo’s President and CEO, musical entertainment is just one component of the long-running event.

“Major American brands are taking part in the expo’s new Total Wellness theme for 2016,” said Mendez.

“AARP, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the Hackensack University Medical Center, and Goya Foods will present modules on how a person can achieve complete well-being. The wellness concept will even feature a cooking show on the healthy fusion of ethnic Filipino dishes and Goya products. In addition, the marquee Trade Pavilion will again overflow with export-grade goods, real estate packages, remittance and other services, free workshops, and world-class Philippine tourist attractions. And, as in the past 17 years, the native Food Court, as well as fun activities for all ages will be crowd-pleasing staples.”

The expo’s companion event, the People’s Ball, will provide the community with a venue to hobnob with business leaders and elective officials.

The gala dinner-dance on Friday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m., will be held at the ballroom of Hilton DoubleTree Hotel, Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
