Gloria Cabrera, a successful New York businesswoman, has secured pledges of financial support from prominent politicians in Pampanga to renovate an old chapel in her hometown of Lubao, Pampanga.

Cabrera, owner of a Manhattan spa and salon bearing her name which has been in business for 40 years, went home last month to attend the wedding of Loida Lewis’ daughter in Manila along with other Filipinos from New York and other states.

Cabrera met with former President and current Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda who both pledged to help her with her parish chapel project located in barangay Sta. Rita in Lubao, hometown of the two officials.

She was also met with Lubao Mayor Myline Pineda, who succeeded her mother, Gov. Pineda.

“I’m grateful to everyone who helps me with my project,” says Cabrera, during a visit to the Filipino Reporter offices at the Empire State Building.

She said she will  make a report when her project is completed.

Among New Yorkers who visited her in Lubao were Priscila Mendoza, Angela Timtiman, Ben Cervantes and Ave Pimo.
