THAT no one is above the law was clearly demonstrated when former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was placed under arrest after a trial court found probable cause to charge her and several others with cheating in the 2007 senatorial elections.

 

LEST we forget, we are still a government of laws, not of men, or one man, to be precise.

UNLIKE the bloody Arab Spring upheavals in the Middle East which overthrew dictatorships in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is a rebellion against corporate greed, social and economic disparity and an ineffective government accused of massive bailout of reeling banks and other financial sectors.

 

IN a conversation with a prominent Filipino journalist during his recent visit to New York, he bewailed the sad state of affairs of the Philippine press not only with the decline of quality reporting but specifically its waning credibility because of a few rotten apples in its midst.
