IN the 2010 Philippine national elections, close to 8,000 dual citizens registered in the New York consulate alone to vote for president, vice president and members of Congress.

But of the 8,000 registered voters only 2,930, or 30 percent, actually voted.

NOW that a new government is in place, fugitive Sen. Panfilo M. Lacson might decide to emerge from hiding and face two murder charges levelled against him for the decade-old brutal killing of a well-known Bicolano publicist and his driver.

DON’T expect President Benigno Aquino III to make a state visit to Washington anytime soon. Not that he dislikes the idea but it’s a matter of schedule, mostly, we surmise, on the part of the White House, which has to issue an official invitation for that to happen.
