ON Aug. 22, Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver and I announced a record 23 television series are being filmed in New York City — contributing to the growth of an industry that supports 100,000 jobs.

DEPARTMENT of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) Commissioner Carole Post, Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence (OCDV) Commissioner Yolanda Jimenez and I recently launched the New York City Supported Training and Employment Preparation Services (NYC STEPS) program.

SCHOOLS Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott recently announced that they have secured $1.5 million in private funding that will allow students across the state to take the New York State Education Department Regents Exams in January 2012.

ASSEMBLY Speaker Sheldon Silver, city officials and I recently opened the first section of the new East River Waterfront Esplanade just south of the South Street Seaport in Lower Manhattan.
