Resplendor: The Blinding Light; Exhibit at Philippine Center

AUG. 27-SEPT. 7—Blending images from Christian iconography with messages on HIV and AIDS, the conceptual photographs of Niccolo Cosme delve deep into the realities of HIV and migration, particularly for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Entitled “Resplendor: The Blinding Light,” the 20 conceptual photographs in this collection provoke and inspire, and share Niccolo’s thoughts and perspectives as an artist and advocate. A number of the Resplendor photos have been included in the Art for AIDS collection of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and have been exhibited in the Philippines, Bangkok, and will soon be installed at the UNAIDS headquarters in Geneva. A noted fashion and conceptual photographer, Niccolo successfully combines photography with his advocacy on HIV and AIDS and human rights, and presents his distinctive photographs to a wider audience through social networking. The Resplendor will be on exhibit in San Francisco on Aug. 15, 2012, hosted by the API Wellness Center. The exhibit will then proceed to the Philippine Center in New York from Aug. 27 to Sept. 7, 2012, co-sponsored by APICHA Community Health Center. Eric Gamalinda in NYC visual arts exhibit

SEPT. 14—Multi-awarded Filipino poet and artist Eric Gamalinda will be part of a visual arts exhibition entitled “The Space Within” at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center at 107 Suffolk St. New York, NY 10002.
