Latin dance party to aid Typhoon Haiyan survivors

MARCH 23—A Latin dance party, featuring the popular Frankie Martinez of Abakua Afro-Latin Dance Company, will be held in Manhattan to help raise funds for the “Build-A-Shelter Project” of the Philippine Consulate General New York and the Fil-Am community for the survivors of Super Typhoon Haiyan. It will be held at SOB’s (Sounds of Brazil) at 204 Varick Street, NYC 10014. Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be Intro Salsa classes “On2” (NY style) and “Rueda de Casino” (Cuban style) at 5:30 p.m. before the party formally begins at 6:30 p.m. with dancing, DJ and band performances, raffles and silent auction. Anton Chan’s NYC exhibit to benefit Museo Iloilo

MARCH 24—Artist Antonietta “Anton” Chan, sister of the legendary crooner Jose Mari Chan, will mount a solo art exhibit at the Philippine Center on Fifth Avenue (between 45th and 46th Streets) in Manhattan to benefit the Museo Iloilo. The show, “In The Country,” will run from March 24 to April 4, with an opening reception on March 24 (Monday) at 6 p.m. (by invitation only).
