Philippine Forum offers 10-week computer course

FEB. 12 & 13—The Philippine Forum will begin its 2011 Project CLEAR (Computer Literacy for Empowerment and Advancement of Rights) with enrollment now open for the basic 10-week computer course with a suggested donation of $100. UPMASA hosts medical mission for indigents in Bani, Pangasinan

FEB. 13-18—The University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society in America (UPMASA) will hold charitable medical/surgical/dental mission in Bani, Pangasinan for indigent patients.  Surgery will be performed at the Alaminos District Hospital. This will be in partnership with Ugnayan ng Pahinungod (UNP), the medical mission division of the Philippine General Hospital. About 80 volunteers (doctors, nurses, and spouses) from all over the U.S. and 35 doctors and nurses from UNP participate. Donation of medicine has been received from the Catholic Medical Mission Board, UNILAB and Mercury Drug Co. Cataract kits with lenses have been donated by Bausch & Lomb. Phil. Consulate NY to observe People Power's 25th anniv.

FEB. 25-26—In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the EDSA Revolution, the Philippine Consulate General New York will be hosting a series of activities to celebrate what the Filipino people showed the world a quarter of a century ago: the united power of the people in ousting a dictator and changing the course of a nation. A special flag raising ceremony will be held on Feb. 25 (Friday) at 8:50 a.m. at the Philippine Center on Fifth Avenue. President Benigno S. Aquino III has also asked all Filipinos to honor the spirit of “bayanihan” and volunteerism, the legacy of the EDSA Revolution.  In line with this, the Philippine Consulate will be open to the public on Feb. 26 (Saturday). Applications for passports, visas, legalization of documents, dual citizenship and all consular transactions will be processed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who are interested in knowing the history of the People Power Revolution may come to the Philippine Center lobby to watch several documentaries that will be screened throughout Feb. 25 and 26.
