3rd Asian-American Month celeb in Stony Brook, N.Y.

MAY 14—The Suffolk County Executive's Asian American Advisory Board, Suffolk County Office of Minority Affairs, Wellbrook Foundation, Inc. and the Charles B. Wang Center are inviting the public to the 3rd annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration, at Stony Brook's Charles B. Wang Center from noon to 6 p.m. There will be multi-cultural booth display, arts and crafts, costumes, dance, featured presentations, vendor and corporate displays and workshops multi-cultural dance and musical performance, induction of new AAAB board members, presentation of awards for distinguished individuals and for the social harmony contest. Buklod Group Concelebrated Mass and Fiesta

JUNE 26—This year’s concelebrated mass and fiesta will be held at Our Lady of Visitation Church in Paramus, N.J. The 3 p.m. mass will be followed by a procession, floral offerings, sinulog dance, dinner and some entertainment numbers. The Buklod Group was founded by then Rev Fr. Rudy Osorio, now retired in Cebu City. For many years, the 23-year-old organization has been sponsoring scholarships to poor but deserving students of the priesthood.  According to Rev Fr. Arcadio Munoz, Buklod's  adviser and scholarship moderator, as well as parish priest of the St Evangelist Church in Bergenfield, N.J. - there are now 14 seminarians for the year 2010-2011. In addition to providing scholarships, the organization's other charitable works include reaching out to the victims of calamities such as the hapless survivors of Japan’s tragic events.
