MANILA — Karen Jimeno, the former spokeswoman of then Chief Justice Renato Corona’s defense team, is now licensed to practice law in New York City.

In her Twitter account, Jimeno said she was waiting her turn to be sworn in at the New York Court.

“Inside NY Court earlier today, waiting to be sworn in. I’m now officially licensed to practice law in New York! Yay!” she tweeted.

Jimeno amassed a following during the Corona impeachment trial from fans who admire her intellect and looks.
A Facebook fan page entitled “Karen Jimeno Courtroom Crushie” was created during the first week of the trial.

Jimeno earlier told Radyo Inquirer that she was not Corona’s first choice for the defense team but her mother, Rita Linda Jimeno, who is the managing partner of Jimeno Cope David law offices and specializes in family law.

After the impeachment trial, she told a Twitter follower that she missed the people in the impeachment trial “but I don’t miss the proceedings.”

Jimeno graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines College of Law in 2005 and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2006.

She received her master of laws degree from Harvard Law School in 2011.

Jimeno is married to investment banker Evan McBride.
