Freehold Township High School’s Nina Mojares was recently crowned Miss New Jersey Outstanding Teen 2016 after competing against 20 other contestants for the title.

The Miss New Jersey Outstanding Teen organization is the sister organization for Miss America.

Mojares, a junior, was judged in interview, talent, evening gown, on stage question and physical fitness.

Her platform was Building Resilient Communities: Youth Empowerment, while she showcased her singing voice in the talent portion.

She won approximately $4,000 in scholarship money and was awarded overall talent winner.

She will be representing the State of New Jersey competing against 51 other state contestants for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2016 in Orlando, Florida on Aug. 6, 2016.

She has the opportunity to win up to $50,000 in scholarship money.

Mojares is enrolled in the Global Studies Learning Center at Freehold Township High School.

The Global Studies Learning Center is an intensive study of world regions, international challenges, cultures, governments and economies.

The rapid pace of globalization means that future graduates will need a more expansive study of the world, and how the United States fits into it.

Students with an interest in history, international development, diplomacy and world order will be challenged with an accelerated and unique curriculum within the comprehensive high school, studying human geography, international relations, comparative government and politics, and international law.

The Learning Center’s goal is to develop a sense of responsibility to the world community and an understanding of what it means to be an active global citizen.
