A Filipino-American, widely-known here as “Buddy,” is running for Bergenfield Borough Council seat in the November polls.

Salvador “Buddy” Deauna (pictured above), a Bergenfield, N.J. resident since 1989, is a well regarded community leader and businessman whose achievements in Bergenfield more than qualifies him to serve as council member in this friendly borough.

He owns and manages Asian Pacific Travel and Services in Bergenfield.

He took bachelor of science degree in commerce, major in marketing from Manuel Luis Quezon University in Manila.

Buddy is a fiscal conservative who believes that government must be accountable, responsible and transparent at every level and is committed to supporting policies that are in the best interest of our families and local businesses.

He is active in a variety of civic and cultural organizations, including being past president of both the Bergenfield Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce, co-founder of FALDEF (Filipino American Legal Defense and Education Fund, NaFFAA (National Federation of Filipino American Associations)-Region 1 Census Director (2010), original incorporator of the Heritage Foundation, a parishioner and Lector at St. John the Evangelist Church, former member of the Pastoral council of the Archdiocese of Newark.

He is a member of the Bergenfield Board of Adjustment (Zoning Board) for over 10 years.

An important aspect of his life is family — his wife Cely Deauna is equally active in the community.

She is a member of the Board of Trustees and former president of Bergenfield Public Library.

Buddy and Cely are actively involved in numerous humanitarian efforts both here and abroad.

They are blessed with four children — three boys and a girl; and six grandchildren.
