New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (pictured above) said a proposal to let undocumented immigrants get driver’s licenses in New York is going nowhere for now.

“I think what we’re focusing on this year is the DREAM Act,” Cuomo said, referring to the measure that would allow undocumented immigrants to get state financial aid for college.

“I don’t think any other license proposal has any credibility this year.”

Immigrant groups launched a push this year to permit those in the country illegally to get driver’s licenses, which 11 states now allow.

Bills to change New York’s policy have been introduced in the State Senate and Assembly.

Pressed on his stance on the issue at the recent National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Cuomo hedged, “It would depend on what it is.

The devil is really in the details on that question,” he said.

The DREAM Act, which Cuomo has called one of his top priorities, has not been able to get through the Senate.
