Ambassador Carlos D. Sorreta, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Philippine Mission to the United Nations, celebrated his birthday on Nov. 11 with a get-together luncheon with officers and staff of the Mission, including Permanent Representative Libran N. Cabactulan.

Sorreta also hosted a luncheon for all U.N. deputy permanent representatives at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center on Fifth Avenue on Nov. 23.

Well-loved and respected by his staff, Sorreta entered public service at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in 1991 as foreign service officer.

He is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Law and passed the bar when he was already with the DFA.

The son of retired Colonel and Mrs. Jose C. Sorreta, he is married to the former Maria Consuelo Sison, who is with Citibank New York, and with whom he has three children: Christopher, Clarissa and Camilo.
