Pinay chef Leah Eveleigh (pictured above) of Denver, Colorado emerged as the Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen” winner on Jan. 19, besting three other contenders with her offerings that were inspired by her Filipino roots — carne asada quesadilla with pineapple, chicken noodle soup with ginger and lemongrass, and fried anchovies.

“While it was clear that Chef Leah wasn’t as technically strong as the other chefs, she came up with ‘fantastic flavors,’” judge Simon Majumdar told host Alton Brown.

“It made me feel happy. Tasty food.”

Leah, meanwhile, said she’s going to the Philippines next month to help her family there rebuild after Typhoon Haiyan.

This spring, she also plans to go to culinary school to improve her skills.

Her “Cutthroat Kitchen” winnings totaled $7,700, which she plans to put toward publishing her first cookbook, according to The Denver Post.

Chef Leah’s episode, “Soupsy Daisy,” will air, according to the Food Network, on Feb. 1 at 3 p.m.
