SECAUCUS, N.J. — Last weekend, the 2015 Fiesta in America saw thousands of families and business people flow into the Meadowlands Exposition Center for two fully packed days of exhibits, seminars and seemingly endless singing and dancing from TFC ABS-CBN’s popular stars Vina Morales, Edgar Allan Guzman and Maxene Magalona, as well as several other talented local artists.

Now in its 17th year, Fiesta in America has transformed its trade and cultural show into an international showcase of Filipino and American brands.

The event draws in thousands of visitors, among them Filipino-Americans — all ready to buy, eager to travel, and willing to invest.

While entertainment seems to be regarded as Fiesta’s surefire annual attraction, the Trade Pavilion’s exhibitors also had their share of enthusiastic crowds this year.

Nearly every other booth encouraged interaction with its visitors, a smart strategy for engaging sociable Pinoys.

Western Union and Diamond Hut urged visitors to spin-a-wheel and get a chance to bag cute key chains, mugs and more.

Westside Mortgage, LLC held a raffle for a giant flat-screen TV, while Hollywood Studios by Joey Cruise provided women with instant spa treatments.

Gloria Cabrera and Hudson Rehab Spa provided free backrubs.

Exhibitors who provided straightforward resources and information, such as AARP — or simply sold popular products like movies on video, as did ABS-CBN International — likewise received a steady flow of visitors.

Long queues formed a trail across the main exhibit area and into the Food Pavilion that sold mouth-watering lechon, barbecue, bibingka and halo-halo.

This provided the exhibitors with even more opportunities to engage their prospects as they waited in line to eat.

One such prospect, Nenita, came with her friend and told Fiesta that she has been coming to the yearly event for more than five years in a row, mainly to rub elbows with the “artistas.”

Another visitor said she was there for the first time and came “for everything,” checking out the wide array of products and services, the lively entertainment, and the Filipino cuisine.

This year, as with previous years, Fiesta in America received support from several recognizable brands as sponsors and hundreds of exhibitors at the trade expo: ABS-CBN International (TFC), Philippine Airlines, AARP, Hudson Toyota, Western Union, and Hackensack University.

Other sponsors included DirectTV/Brandmuscle/Santos Enterprises, Pag-ibigFund, Hackensack UMC, Western Union/VJP Marketing & Communications, Inc., Tancinco Law Offices, Hudson Toyota, Moneygram/AAAZA, Inc., Asian Journal Publications, Acura Park Avenue, AXA Advisors, LLC, Hollywood Studios by Joey Cruise, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company.

The Philippine media were more than just sponsors.

Filipino Reporter, Asian Journal Publications, Filipino Express and the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Inquirer.net) also provided extensive support to Fiesta in America.
