“Lunchtime with Ms. Charo,” a private Welcome Lunch Reception, was recently organized by the United Mindoro International, Inc.

Charo Santos-Concio, the president and chief executive officer of ABS-CBN, is the pride of Mindoro.

On Nov. 21, 2015, she was received by Consul General of the Philippines in New York, Ambassador Mario Lopez de Leon, Jr., and his wife Eleanor; by her fellow Mindoreños, most especially by her classmates in elementary and high school in Calapan City where she grew up; selected community leaders; entrepreneurs; and friends in the entertainment industry and media.

Santos-Concio was chosen to preside over this year’s Gala for the 43rd International Emmy Awards held at the New York Hilton Midtown Manhattan Hotel on Nov. 23.

She has experience, beauty and good heart — the right person for the job as president and CEO of ABS-CBN Corporation in the Philippines.

Santos-Concio is best remembered for her “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (“MMK”) TV show which is now on its 24th year.

She will always be the “pinakamagandang babae sa balat ng Mindoro” as mentioned in my speech at the Astoria World Manor in Queens, N.Y. on Nov. 21.

I come from the same district and Catholic school where Santos-Concio grew up, along with her five siblings.

(Editor’s note: Juliet Payabyab is the president of United Mindoro International, Inc.)
