MANILA — Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao and Filipino-American head coach Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat could join forces for a good cause if they come to an agreement to hold sports clinics for their countrymen.

Spoelstra, whose mother is from Laguna, revealed to ESPN.com that he is a finalizing deal with the world’s only 7-division world champion.
“Manny's people actually got back to us the other day and said he was really interested in getting together to do something like this,” the Heat mentor said in a report by Michael Wallace.
The plan is to hold a series of clinics in the Philippines next year to promote sports and healthy lifestyles for the youth.
“It’s for a good cause, and we’re really excited about the chance to do it,” the Fil-Am coach added.
Spoelstra mentioned that the clinics would likely be held in Pacquiao’s birthplace—Kibawe, Bukidnon.
The boxing superstar-turned-congressman and renowned NBA coach met last August when the latter visited the Philippines for the first-ever NBA FIT Week in the country.
“I had the opportunity to meet Filipino Boxing Champ Manny Pacquiao,” Spoelstra wrote in his NBA.com blog. “It was an honor to finally meet him in person.”
The NBA FIT program aims to educate individuals and families on the physical, mental and emotional benefits of healthy living. – With reports from NBA.com and ESPN.com
