Philippine Consul General in New York Ma. Theresa Dizon B. de Vega met with U.S. Congresswoman Kathleen Rice (D) of the 4th District of New York at her district office in Garden City, Nassau County, N.Y.

During the meeting, the consul general noted the strong and longstanding relations between the Philippines and the U.S.

They discussed the membership of Congresswoman Rice in the PH-US Friendship Caucus in the U.S. Congress.

Congresswoman Rice expressed eagerness to become more actively involved in the caucus.

Mrs. de Vega also informed Congresswoman Rice on the current issues closely monitored by the Fil-Am community like immigration, healthcare and education matters.

She thanked the congresswoman for the passage of the Congressional Gold Medal Bill for Filipino World War II veterans.

Congresswoman Rice expressed interest in visiting the Philippines in the future by joining the Ambassador’s Tour organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Tourism, or as part of a U.S. Congressional delegation.

They were joined at the meeting by the Consulate’s Political Officer Consul Arman R. Talbo.
